The worship service is centred around hearing the word read from the Bible, the preaching of the word and responding in prayer and, on the fourth Sunday of each month, in the Lord's Supper. After the service all are welcome to an informal morning tea in the hall.
In 1971, the congregation of the Mathison Congregational Church in Croydon joined the congregation of the Malvern Hill Methodist Church to form a joint congregation. The inaugural service was held on 7th November, 1971.
On Sunday 26th June, 1977, the congregation celebrated church union and the creation of the Uniting Church in Australia. This event inaugurated the new Uniting Church Parish of Burwood-Croydon, of which this congregation is a part.
Over the years since church union the congregation has continued as a worshipping community, a nurturing community, a caring community.
