At The Cactus Community House...

* It's All Happening *
  " a chance to be a part of meaningful Christian community and a growing young-adults church the opportunity to discover your gifts, survive university and have fun!"

Established in 1997 by the Burwood-Croydon UCA with the support and encouragement of UCATSA, Cactus community is a new concept. Mixing meaningful Christian community with student accommodation, our local congregation and the UCATSA chaplaincy network certainly provides opportunities as well as hurdles that are new and full of potential!

 More than just your bed and breakfast, Cactus is about finding ways of living more collectively, developing the young adult congregation at Burwood UCA, discovering and supporting each other's gifts and passions, and (of course) surviving our study - whether it be TAFE, University, apprenticeship, college etc.

 Cactus is more than just a student accommodation project - it's a community.

The Accommodation
The church has a student house a few minutes from Croydon Station, 20 minutes from the city. Mixed accommodation for either 4 or 5 people is available, with individual rooms and a shared situation for the rest of the house. Rent is $80 p/week, plus bills (phone, power and water usage) and food kitty.

 The idea is to develop relationships amongst the members - whilst still retaining individual space. Bedrooms are unfurnished, although we can discuss alternatives in some cases.

 The community meets one night a week, and all are involved in the evening service at Burwood UCA.
